Decorating an Office Space for the Holiday Season

The holiday season is approaching fast, and it never hurts to prepare a little early for seasonal decorating! No matter which winter holidays you and your team members celebrate, there are plenty of ways to bring some cheer to your office suites.

Whether you go all-out on your decorating this year or keep things conservative, here are a few ideas for sprucing up the office.

Christmas Decorating Ideas

  1. Decorate your work area with string lights! Try traditional rainbow bulbs for a touch of nostalgia, or use icicle-shaped lights to make your cubicle feel like a winter wonderland.
  2. Reuse old cardboard boxes by covering them in wrapping or construction paper and make miniature “presents” to spread around the office. If your office has a tree, place a few piles around it to remind yourself of a joyous Christmas morning!
  3. If your office has windows, try using decals to create a spirited atmosphere. Cover the glass in snowflakes for a white Christmas, or place a large tree decal that your coworkers can decorate with paper ornaments or more decals. No need to clean up messy pine needles this year!
  4. Leave a candy jar at the front desk for your guests and teammates. Fill it with holiday-themed treats such as peppermints, candy canes, tiny chocolates, and toffee pieces.
  5. Show your staff that you care by leaving out a plate of cookies for them instead of Santa. Choose a decorative holiday plate in red or green and fill it with sugar cookies. Add a few gingerbread men if you want to go the extra mile!

Hanukkah Decorations

  1. Use paper garlands to decorate the office with blue and white colors. Look for specially-shaped garlands that come in Star of David shapes.
  2. You can also make little Stars of David to place on your team members’ desks. Simply paint some popsicle sticks blue, then glue them together in the traditional star shape.
  3. Select a menorah with electronic lights to put on display to bring a warm holiday glow to the office without risking a fire. Some even have flickering lights to simulate real candles!
  4. Leave a small pile of chocolate gelt inside a colored sachet on each team member’s desk to surprise them with a little treat.
  5. Bring two holidays together by creating a Hanukkah and Christmas tree. Fill it with colorful ornaments, tiny dreidels, and glowing lights in red, green, blue, and white.
